Touching footage of dog’s life sends powerful message against animal abandonment

A dog is a lifetime commitment!

Even though it sounds unbelievable and unthinkable for any animal lover out there, millions of animals are being abandoned each year. It is extremely hard to know the exact number of pet animals left behind all over the world, a terrifying report from PETA shows that over 6 million animals (mostly dogs and cats) end up in shelters every year. That only in the USA alone!

Animal homelessness is a huge problem, all over the world, that’s more than obvious. So animal rights groups, animal activists, animal charities and many others joined their efforts in a hopeful attempt to at least tackle this issue. While many of these groups use the well known conventional approaches to eradicate the problem, this charity in France came up with a very creative idea.

Instead of denouncing people that abandon their fur companions, Foundation 30 Millions d’Amis ( 30 Million Friends in English) proposed a very different approach. In a short, but extremely powerful video, the charity raise awareness and tries to stop people from leaving their pets behind. To do so, 30 Millions d’Amis did not chose a sad story of an abandoned animal, but an emotional bond between a girl and her puppy, instead.

Just like everywhere in the world, France also faces some big challenges when it comes to tackle the animal abandon. Over 100,000 animals are given up to shelters (or even worse) every year, with nearly 60% of them during the summertime holiday. Let’s hope that 30 Millions d’Amis Foundation’s campaign will make people think twice before giving up these magic creatures we call pets.

“The video shows the unique relationship between a little girl and her dog,”30 Millions d’Amis Foundation caption the 2 minute film. “We follow them through all the important moments of their lives until the animal grown old dies in his mistresses arms. WHEN A DOG ABANDONS HIS MASTER IT IS NOT TO GO ON HOLIDAY.”
